I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and graduated from UC Berkeley, where I studied Mathematics and Art History. In 2002, we moved to Milford, CT, and ever since I have been inspired by the sights, sounds, and personality of this wonderful area.
I’ve been painting for over 35 years, and it is very satisfying, both intellectually and emotionally. Sometimes it loves you back, and sometimes it is unforgiving. Living near the ocean has kept me particularly interested in the water and the things in it or on it.
The work shown here is either oil on canvas, or some mixed media. I have come to focus on two main areas – realistic representations of nature, and then paintings that tell a story. The story paintings can be slightly surreal or fantastic. Polymer collages made of paper, citrus bags, or whatever else works are a perfect way to make a painting come alive.
